This was in the Dallas Morning Newspaper a few months ago (over the summer). It's a project kids can do with old crayons. This requires the use of a hot iron so younger children need parental supervison.
Here is what to do: 1. get wax paper, layout a piece long enough to draw a picture 2. shave crayons using a pencil sharpener 3. place small amounts of shaved crayons where needed to make the picture, ex: for grass use green 4. cover with another piece of wax paper 5. using an iron, melt the crayon - this will make the 2 pieces of wax paper stick together Please note that a small amount of wax goes a long way.
My cousins and I made some really cute pictures that when displayed in front of the window looks like stain glass. Also this was a lot of fun because it didn't matter about age. We all got into the spirit of having fun and spending time doing something together.
